Within an NRG file, the basic information about a file is not contained on the beginning – in the header, but it is attached on the end of the data string – in the footer. NRG files use a variation of the IFF format (Interchange File Format), which means, that the data is stored in portions. An NRG file may be an exact copy of a CD/DVD, or a package of multiple files, which than can be installed as a virtual drive. An NRG file is an optical drive image, generated with a software for disc managing – Nero Burning ROM.
